Youth Worker- Employment Readiness and Jumpstart Project

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ requires a Part –Time Temporary Youth Worker to help run our Employment Readiness and JumpStart grant program.


Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for youth at risk in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.


This position is within EGADZ Youth Centre for the Drop-In component and is responsible for organizing and supporting our clients job preparation process, participate in new and positive recreational activities. Specifically, the Employment Readiness program support clients with job search, writing cover letter/resumes, preparing for interviews, assisting youth with shopping for proper work/interview attire, helping youth gather I.D’s, opening of bank accounts, transporting of clients to interviews amongst other duties as required.


In the Jumpstart program, the incumbent will facilitate the programming and transportation of clients to and from positive recreational activities as the program focuses on multi-sport, archery, skating, swimming and squash amongst other activities.


While participating in the project, youth will build experiences that will assist in increasing their self-confidence while gaining skills they will be able to apply in their lives. The ideal candidate will build trusting relationships with youth and engage them to participate in programming activities.




 Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience, or a combination of both.

 Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle.

 Be physically fit and willing to actively participate with the youth in activities.

 Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and partner agencies.

 Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in oral and written form.

 Working knowledge of computers/windows.

 Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and issues.

Valid CPR/First Aid certificate

 Must have a valid drivers license that reflects a safe driving record - A Driver's Abstract is Required (Within 3 Months).

Criminal records Check (Within 6 Months)


The Employment Readiness program spans till May 15, 2019 and the JumpStart program spans till April 30, 2019


Hours: Monday- Friday 6pm-9pm, total of 15 hours per week position.


Salaries are based on EGADZ current wage of $17.75 per hour.
