Our Stories: Ground Zero

A 16-year-old female moved to Ground Zero after submitting a self-referral. She was couch surfing in Saskatoon, as she had relocated here for support and opportunity. She had no family that could care for her and was needing a place where she could feel safe. She immediately made herself at home, participated in positive activities, developed relationships with other youth in the home and got registered for online school. Over time, she began completing schoolwork daily and getting 100% on her assignments. Her growth was evident to everyone around her, as she took a leadership role in the home amongst other youth and helping around the house. She shortly was able to transition to a Long-Term Placement and to this day still hangs out with the Ground Zero Outreach!
